In early 2012 following a submission by Bradford Council a defined area of Scholemoor and Lidget Green in Bradford was granted Big Local status. In July, two Bradford based infrastructure organisations Bradford Community & Voluntary Service (CVS) and the Community Network (CNet) were chosen by residents as local organisations to support the development of Big Local due to their experience and many connections in the area.
The area chosen includes a post war council-built estate known as Scholemoor now predominantly owned by the local housing trust Incommunities with some private ownership. A small area to the south west of mostly owner occupied semidetached properties and three separate areas of densely populated stone built Victorian terraced housing.
The neighbourhoods within the area defined have no natural connection with each other apart from shared borders. There is little interaction between the communities and the majority of residents do not travel into the other areas.
Some 10 years ago as a result of neighbourhood renewal funding and action planning two partnerships were developed Scholemoor Beacon and Lidget Green Community Partnership. Both these partnerships continue, however the reduction of community development support and the general decrease of funding opportunities for the community has limited their achievements.
The lack of subsequent regeneration investment and the increase in deprivation indicators being the primary reason for the allocation of Big Local status.

As well as Scholemoor & Lidget Green, another area for Bradford district is Keighley Valley
